400 senior figures across the UK travel and tourism sector came together this June for the annual ITT Conference. Staged this year in the picturesque town of Split, just off Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, the ITT Conference is the travel industry’s Blue Riband event, providing a blend of networking, leisure activity and thought leadership.

Steven Freudman, Chairman at the Institute of Travel and Tourism, worked closely with HTL to seek out the very best industry speakers who would stimulate thinking and entertain the audience throughout the course of the week-long event.

Professor Jo Delahunty QC, leading UK barrister, judge and professor of law, delivered an inspiring closing keynote on the importance of communication and imagination, sharing her journey of getting to the top of her profession through reflecting on issues concerning equality and class, highlighting the responsibility of leaders to mentor aspiring employees.

Renowned psychologist Dr. Kevin Dutton received an enthusiastic response to his speech titled “Cracking the Code of the Special Forces Mindset”, which revealed precisely what makes us as humans tick, the cognitive principles that all Special Forces personnel have in common, and how the rest of us can learn lessons from these elite performers.

Meanwhile, Paul Alexander drew on his experience as the CEO of data analytics specialist Beyond Analysis, to illustrate how extensive use of good quality data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence is already transforming the travel industry forever.
